Our Governance

Overview

Te Roopu Atawhai Inc. (TRA) has in place a comprehensive system of governance practices designed to provide appropriate levels of disclosure and accountability. A detailed Governance Statement is provided each year in our annual report.

The Committee of Management (COM) assists the EC in the discharge of its responsibilities by utilising an exhaustive Portfolio Infrastructure, whereby simplifying and more effectively coordinating the resources of the Organisation.

This enables every branch of TRA to be represented on the Committee of Management by it’s relevant Portfolio Manager.

Portfolio Managers are appointed by having acquired the necessary experience and suitable qualifications as deemed appropriate to manage their portfolio.

Governance Framework

Constitution

TRA is subject to the particular requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act, and the TRA Constitution accepted by our Executive Committee,  Committee of Management and our membership on this day 13th February 2002

Accountability

The EC is accountable for TRA’s overall performance. It sets the Organisation’s key objectives and strategies through a rolling 5-year Strategic Plan, which is submitted annually to relevant regulatory authorities and TRA major stakeholders. Progress against the Plan is reported annually.

Governance Practices

TRA has in place an exhaustive risk management and internal control framework designed to identify and treat all significant business and strategic risks.Internal Audits take a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal control and associated governance processes

TRA seeks to conduct its business with integrity, honesty and fairness and in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, codes and corporate standards.

Our Ethics sets out clearly the ethical standards that are expected of Committee Members, Portfolio Managers, Volunteers and general staff alike in their dealing with customers and clients, the Organisation and each other
